Idemitsu shuts CDU at Yokkaichi refinery
Japanese refiner Idemitsu Kosan has been forced to shut one of the two crude distillation units (CDUs) at its 255,000 b/d Yokkaichi refinery following an issue at a secondary unit.
The CDU was shut on 20 May. Idemitsu has not set a date for a restart.
The CDU shutdown was shut after a defect was found at the continuous catalyst regeneration platformer (CCR-PF) on 18 May. The CCR-PF was unexpectedly shut down on 19 May.
The CCR-PF unit typically produces high-octane gasoline blendstock by converting heavy naphtha.
Yokkaichi has two CDUs - the 100,000 b/d No. 2 and 155,000 b/d No. 3 units. Idemitsu did not confirm which of the two CDUs was taken off line.
