Argus Eurobob volumes climb again in June

Argus Eurobob traded volumes rebounded further in June to a combined 460,000t, from 385,000t in May.

This is still down from 498,000t in June last year, but is the highest for any month since January and was above the lows in March and April as European economies slowly reopen.

Oxy barge trading liquidity was 348,000t in June, compared with 319,000t in May and 467,000t a year earlier. Oxy volumes are still lower for the year as a whole, at 1.57mn t between January-June, compared with 1.65mn t in the first half of 2019.

Trading firm Vitol secured 134,000t of Eurobob oxy barges in June, after none in May. Russia's Litasco bought 96,000t and ExxonMobil 30,000t, up from nothing and 26,000t respectively a month earlier.

The remainder was purchased by BMV Mineral, BP, Glencore, Gunvor, Mabanaft, Petroineos, Trafigura, Varo and Macquarie. BB Energy returned to the Argus Eurobob barge market for the first time since December 2014.

Total was the largest seller of oxy barges for a second month, with 201,000t up from 115,000t in May. Hartree sold 50,000t, compared with 48,000t. Shell sold 29,000t, compared with 8,000t. BP, Finco, Gunvor , Litasco, Petroineos, Vitol and Macquarie sold the balance.

Trading liquidity on Argus Eurobob non-oxy gasoline barges was 112,000t in June, up from 66,000t in May and from 31,000t a year earlier. Non-oxy barge volumes are 519,000t for January-June, compared with 172,000t in the same period last year.

Varo secured 82,000t of non-oxy gasoline in June, compared with 22,000t in May. Gunvor bought 18,000t, after 34,000t a month earlier. BP, Van Raak, Mabanaft and ExxonMobil purchased the remainder.

Total sold 56,000t in June, compared with 40,000t in May. Shell sold 32,000t, compared with 2,000t. Glencore, Gunvor, Litasco and Finco sold the remainder.
