Vietnam's state-owned Binh Son Refining (BSR) has bought light sweet US WTI and Nigerian Bonny light crude for delivery to its 145,000 b/d Dung Quat refinery over 15 October-31 December.

The cargoes were bought through a tender. BSR bought three Suezmaxes of WTI and Bonny Light, with one Suezmax likely to be delivered each month, although further details are unavailable.

BSR previously bought WTI, Azeri BTC and Brunei Champion crude for term delivery to Dung Quat refinery in January-May. The Dung Quat refinery is scheduled for a full shutdown for maintenance from mid-August until early October.

BSR had issued its latest semi-term tender to buy in July, seeking 3mn bl crude for delivery between 15 October-31 December. The tender requested offers for grades including Azeri BTC, Brunei Champion, Malaysian Kimanis, Miri, Labuan, US WTI Midland, Nigerian Bonny Light and Russian Sokol.

Dung Quat had bought its first ever cargo of Bonny Light in late 2019. The refinery runs mainly domestic crude but BSR has stepped up imports for the refinery to offset falling Vietnamese production.
