Greek shipowner Alpha Gas has received the first of four ordered newbuild LNG carriers, bringing its LNG fleet to two vessels.

The 173,400m³ Energy Pacific was delivered to the owner today by South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), following the completion of gas trials. The vessel is the second to join Alpha Gas' fleet, with the 160,000m³ Energy Atlantic having been delivered in 2015.

Alpha Gas also is set to receive the 173,400m³ Energy Endeavour in the fourth quarter of this year and the same-sized Energy Intelligence and Energy Integrity in the second quarter of 2021.

The Energy Pacific is the second newbuild to be delivered into the global fleet so far this month, with at least three more scheduled to depart their shipyards before the start of October. And 20 carriers are slated for delivery by the end of this year, as well as the 180,000m³ Vasant, which will be used as a floating storage and regasification unit for Swan Energy's planned import terminal at Jafrabad, India.
