UK police are dealing with "an ongoing incident" on board an oil tanker off the southern coast of England.
The Liberian-flagged Nave Andromeda had been due to dock in Southampton this morning having set off from Nigeria earlier this month, according to vessel tracking app MarineTraffic. The tanker is "situated south of the Isle of Wight", Hampshire police said.
The UK Chamber of Shipping said it is aware of the incident and is in contact with the relevant authorities. "We believe it is likely to be related to stowaways on board but are waiting for more information," it said.
ExxonMobil has a marine terminal located within the Port of Southampton that handles crude deliveries for the firm's 270,000 b/d Fawley refinery.
