German wind farm operator and project developer PNE Group will build two wind farms in Poland by 2022, with a combined capacity of 59MW.

The Krzecin wind farm will consist of eight turbines in northwest Poland with an approximate capacity of 19MW. PNE estimates that the construction will be completed by the end of 2021.

The Kuslin wind farm in west Poland will consist of 12 turbines with a total capacity of 40MW. Construction is due to begin "in a few weeks", with completion expected by the first half of 2022, PNE said.

The firm participated in three tenders for contracts for difference for 94.8MW of capacity in December 2019, all three of which it won.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) provided funds of around €100mn for the two projects, PNE said. The EBRD last year said it would target a higher investment share in Poland's renewable power projects to €650mn/yr, up from a historical investment of €180mn-300mn/yr.
