Indonesia has allocated 9.2mn kl (8.1mn t) of biodiesel across 20 producers to hit its 30pc biodiesel mandate (B30) for next year.

This is slightly down on initial forecasts of 9.6mn kl/yr under the B30 programme with transport fuel demand still expected to feel the impact from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Just 8.5mn kl is projected to be consumed in 2020 because of the pandemic and some suppliers failing to deliver their full allocated amounts, according to the ministry of energy and mineral resources.

Producers Wilmar Nabati Indonesia and Wilmar Bioenergi Indonesia have been granted the two largest allocations for next year at 1.37mn kl and 1.32mn kl respectively. Musim Mas follows with 883,000 kl and then Cemerlang Energi Perkasa with 483,000 kl.

The Indonesian government has run into difficulties this year funding its biodiesel mandate but is pushing ahead to add production capacity to prepare for an increase to a B40 mandate by 2022.
