Greek shipowner Alpha Gas has taken receipt of a newbuild LNG carrier — the 173,400m³ Energy Integrity — taking its fleet to four carriers.

The new carrier left South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilder and Marine Engineering's Okpo shipyard today, and is declaring for arrival at Singapore on 20 May, where it is likely to be cooled and receive its heel gas.

Alpha Gas has already received two newbuild carriers in recent months, and is scheduled to take receipt of its last ordered newbuild — the 173,400m³ Energy Intelligence — in June.

The Energy Integrity is the second newbuild carrier to join the global LNG fleet this month, with Greek owner TMS Cardiff's 174,000m³ LNGShips Manhattan departing South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries' Ulsan shipyard on 8 May.

A further five new carriers are due for delivery this month, although some delivery schedules have been delayed in recent months, suggesting that some of these carriers might not join the global fleet by the month's end.
