Tetco FM will crimp southbound Appalachian gas flows

A force majeure on Enbridge's Texas Eastern Transmission (Tetco) natural gas pipeline may tighten southbound flow capacity from Appalachia this summer.

The force majeure declared 28 May requires Tetco to have a 20pc pressure restriction on lines 10 and 15 at the Owingsville, Kentucky, compressor station, where a May 2020 explosion took place. This will limit Owingsville flows to less than 1 Bcf/d and will impact the entire 30-inch line between Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and Kosciusko, Mississippi.

Effective today, Uniontown capacity will be limited to 2.6 Bcf/d (74mn m³) while the Danville compressor station in Kentucky will range from 966mn-1.256 Bcf/d.

Additionally, Uniontown will be capped at 2.7 Bcf/d from 2-6 June and will fall to 1.85 Bcf/d from 18-25 June.

The force majeure was ordered by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) because it declined the renewal of a rolling 90-day permit approval to run the system at maximum pressure between Kosciusko and Uniontown.
