India hikes first-half July jet fuel prices

Indian state-controlled refiners have raised jet fuel prices for the first half of July by 3.6pc from two weeks earlier, as further easing of lockdowns in many parts of the country increased prospects of higher consumption.

India is the second most infected region behind the US, with 30.4mn Covid-19. But the daily increase in new cases has declined from a record over 400,000 cases in early May to about 46,000 cases.

Prices of jet fuel for domestic airlines in Delhi have increased to 68,262 rupees/kilolitres ($146/bl) for the first half of July from Rs65,908/kl for the second half of June, according to state-controlled refiner IOC.

Jet fuel consumption totalled 56,000 b/d in the first half of June, down by around 18pc from a month earlier, according to data from state-controlled refiners that account for around 90pc of the country's fuel sales.

India's state-refiners are anticipating to demand to pick up in the coming months and have raised crude run rates.
