Colonial Pipeline to restart Lines 1, 2 tonight: Update

Colonial Pipeline plans to restart a segment of its gasoline and distillate lines this evening after an evaluation of equipment and infrastructure along the path of Hurricane Ida.

Colonial shut down gasoline-bearing Line 1 and distillates-carrying Line 2 between Houston, Texas, and Greensboro, North Carolina as a precaution at 2:28pm ET yesterday, hours before the Category 4 hurricane made landfall in Louisiana bringing 150mph (240km/h) winds along with storm surge and heavy rainfall. Colonial this afternoon said it plans to resume operations along the lines this evening.

Lines 3 and 4, which move products between Greensboro and Linden, New Jersey, continued normal operations during the storm, the company said.

Colonial's 5,500-mile (8,850km) system moves fuel from the Gulf coast to US southeast suppliers and into the New York Harbor market.
