Corrects destination of Line 4

Colonial Pipeline last night restarted US gasoline and distillate lines that were shut down ahead of Hurricane Ida's landfall two days ago.

Colonial shut down gasoline-bearing Line 1 and distillates-carrying Line 2 between Houston, Texas, and Greensboro, North Carolina, as a precaution on 29 August as the Category 4 hurricane reached the Louisiana coast bringing 150mph (240km/h) winds along with storm surge and heavy rainfall. The lines resumed operations before midnight ET yesterday, Colonial said today. During the line closures, the system continued to supply fuel throughout the southeast from terminals located along the supply route.

Lines 3, which move products between Greensboro and Linden, New Jersey, and Line 4, which runs from Greensboro to Woodbine, Maryland, operated normally during the storm.

Colonial's 5,500-mile (8,850km) system moves fuel from the Gulf coast to US southeast suppliers and into the New York Harbor market.
