Partial Plantation pipeline service resumes, for now
A segment of Kinder Morgan's 700,000 b/d Products (SE) Pipe Line system from Mississippi to North Carolina — formerly known as Plantation — resumed partial service today, but will be interrupted tomorrow because of supply constraints caused by Hurricane Ida's landfall earlier this week.
The mainlines of the refined products system between Collins, Mississippi, and Greensboro, North Carolina, restarted partial service drawing power at the network's Collins station. Power remained out at the southernmost point on the pipeline at its Baton Rouge, Louisiana, terminal this morning, while deliveries along the rest of the network have continued as normal.
"We continue to work with our customers on scheduling and batch sequencing to minimize downtimes while power is being restored to impacted areas," Kinder Morgan said.
With most of the refineries that feed into the pipeline shut down because of hurricane-related flooding, damage or power outages, the pipeline may shut down by tomorrow because of a lack of products to move.
