Indian state-controlled refiners have raised jet fuel prices for the second half of September by 3.1pc from two weeks earlier, in line with an increase in Singapore market assessments, while demand continued to hold below pre-pandemic levels.

Prices of jet fuel for domestic airlines in Delhi have been set at 68,609 rupees/kilolitre ($148.38/bl) for the second half of this month, up from Rs66,528/kl for the previous two-week period, according to Indian state-controlled refiner IOC. Prices for domestic airlines on international routes in Delhi rose to $704/kilolitre ($111.75/bl) from $680/kl.

Prices of jet fuel were at $78.55/bl fob Singapore yesterday, after having risen to a more than one-month high of $78.65/bl on 14 September.

India's consumption of the aviation fuel rose by about 9pc from a month earlier to 95,000 b/d in the first half of this month, according to data from state-controlled refiners that account for around 90pc of India's fuel sales. But this was down from 162,000 b/d in the first half of September 2019 prior to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the aviation sector.

August jet fuel use rose by 20pc against the previous month to 97,000 b/d as domestic air traffic increased, oil ministry data showed, while it was down by 43pc compared with the same month in 2019.
