Brazilian gas production hits record in 2021

Brazil's 2021 natural gas production hit an annual record at 134mn m³/d (28.32 Bcf/d), 5pc higher than in 2020.

Total Brazilian natural gas production in December was up 4.2pc on a yearly basis and down 3.2pc on a monthly basis at 132mn m³/d, according to consolidated oil and gas regulator ANP data.

Natural gas available to buyers was down by 5.6pc in December to 54.5mn m³/d compared with the same month last year, as the country directed more gas towards reinjection. Available natural gas was also down by 12pc compared to previous month's levels.

Gas reinjection in December increased by 15pc from a year earlier, to 60.7mn m³/d, and was up by 5.7pc against the previous month.

Flaring was up by 9.2pc compared to December 2020, and down 12pc compared to November, at 3.33mn m³/d.

Gas consumption on production platforms was up by 2.4pc yearly at 13.7mn m³/d, and up by 0.7pc from the prior month.
