Multiple units at Mexico's 330,000 b/d Salina Cruz refinery on the west coast remain shut after a fire that broke out late on 16 April and took 24 hours to control.

State-owned operator Pemex has not provided information on the effects on output, but 26 processing plants are down today, Argus confirmed with a source close to the refinery.

The fire broke out in a vertical storage tank labeled TV-102. Nearby residents were evacuated.

Pemex's Grame Sur regional emergency management team allowed fuel to burn off for several hours, it said. Close to 33,000 bl of gasoline were consumed by the fire, the source said.

Pemex brought fire-extinguishing fluid from its 275,000 b/d Cadereyta refinery located hundreds of miles to the north to help battle the blaze.

Salina Cruz processed 230,000 b/d of crude in the week ended 18 March, according to the latest data published by the energy ministry (Sener) in its weekly dashboard.
