Brazil power expands in May by most this year

Brazil expanded its power generation capacity in May by 601.5MW, the biggest monthly increase this year, led by thermoelectric plants.

Thermal power plants were responsible for 367.2MW of the expansion, while wind and solar generation added 144MW and 40.7MW, respectively. The country during May also added 29.5MW in small hydroelectric plants.

Brazil's total installed generating capacity rose to 183,129.3MW, including 2,162MW installed this year through May.
