Brazil expanded its power generation capacity by 709MW this July, with thermal power plants accounting for 21pc of total growth.
Thermal plants were responsible for 146MW of the expansion, while solar and wind generation added 330MW and 184MW, respectively. The country also added 47MW in hydroelectric plants and 1MW in a hydroelectric generation center.
Brazil's total installed generating capacity rose to 184,400MW as of 8 August, according to the country's electricity regulator Aneel.
