Brazil hit solar, wind records in August

Brazil's solar and wind power generation hit 31 consecutive daily records in August.

On 30 August, wind power generation registered a record 15,143MW on average, which is equivalent to 22.3pc of the total domestic demand. On the same day, wind power also posted a record for peak generation at 17,670MW.

Solar power generation also posted record numbers, with an average of 1,762MW — 2.6pc of total domestic demand — on 29 August. Solar power reached a record 4,748MW of peak generation on the same day.
