US steel shipments down again in September

US steel shipments fell again in September, the seventh consecutive month of shipment declines.

US steel mills shipped 7.14mn short tons (st) in the month, down by 12pc from the prior year.

Shipments were down by 7pc from the 7.68mn st in the prior month.

Through September, steel shipments totaled 68.46mn st, down by 3.2pc from the same period of 2021.

In the same period hot rolled coil (HRC) shipments were down by 8pc, hot dipped galvanized (HDG) coil shipments were down 8pc, and cold rolled coil (CRC) shipments fell by 13pc.
