Brazil's oil and gas regulator ANP will issue a new regulatory framework for the technical criteria defining natural gas transportation pipelines.

The regulator added the issue to its regulatory agenda, which is important to create cohesion between state and federal rules. Clear parameters to define transportation pipelines is crucial to avoid regulatory disputes, especially with the numerous bills and decrees being processed in states regarding the classification of distribution gas pipelines, according to ANP.

ANP will create a regulatory impact analysis report to be submitted to public comments by the end of the year. The regulatory agency expects that the new framework will be published by 2024.
