The administrative board of Brazil's Itaipu Binacional hydropower plant decreased the company's power tariff to $16.71/kW from $20.75/kW in 2022.
The new tariff is 19.5pc lower than last year's. The reduction comes as Brazil gears up to update the plant's contract terms in its agreement with Paraguay.
In Brazil, the Itaipu tariff is a component of the transfer tariff charged to consumers by electricity regulator Aneel.
