The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reduced its estimates for US renewable diesel production and consumption for this year, while near-term import expectations were steady, in the agency's latest Short-Term Energy Outlook.
The EIA anticipates 218,000 b/d of renewable diesel to be produced in 2024, down from February's estimate of 226,000 b/d. 2025 estimates were steady at 290,000 b/d.
Consumption forecasts were also lower for 2024 at 242,000 b/d, compared with 249,000 b/d in the February report. Estimates for 2025 were 2,000 b/d higher at 306,000 b/d.
The forecast for 2024 imports was reported at 24,700 b/d, little changed from the previous STEO. The estimate for 2025 imports was up by 2,000 b/d at 16,000 b/d.
