The operator of Greece's Alexandroupolis LNG terminal halted sendout on Tuesday and it will not resume until further notice.

A "technical issue" has halted regasification at the 4.3mn t/yr terminal, operator Gastrade said. The firm had previously stated in an urgent market message that the outage would end on Friday.

The terminal's maximum sendout capacity was already limited to 31 GWh/d on 22-29 January from as high as 55GWh this month, and the operator said that regasification could halt on 23 January.

Receipts at the Amfitriti point — where Alexandroupolis sendout enters the Greek grid — were 28 GWh/d on 22-27 January, with sendout of 19GWh on 23 January. But there have been no inflows at the point since the start of Tuesday's gas day, data from Greek grid operator Desfa show.

Bulgaria's Bulgargaz has been the sole user of the terminal so far this year. Alexandroupolis last received a delivery from the 174,000m³ BW Lesmes on 19 January, carrying a US-origin cargo, according to the operator's schedule. The terminal had around 757GWh of LNG in storage as of this morning, according to GIE transparency platform and Desfa data.
