Argus forecasts Ukraine's 2025-26 corn production at 31.3mn t, up from 26.9mn t in 2024-25 but 9pc below the five-year average, following the Argus virtual corn crop tour last week.
Argus projects Ukraine corn exports in the 2025-26 season (October-September) to rise to 26mn t, up by almost 6mn t from 2024-25.
Corn yields in 2025-26 are forecast at 6.96 t/hectare (ha), slightly up on the five-year average and up by 5.5pc on last year.
The yield potential was boosted by sufficient rainfall during the corn growing cycle in the country's key producing regions. That said, there are concerns over corn output levels in some parts of Ukraine, particularly in southern areas of Poltava and Cherkasy regions.
But the increase in corn yield potential in western and northern areas, compared with both last year and the five-year average, should offset output losses in central-southern areas.
Argus anticipates a more significant hit to sunflower production in the south of the country compared with corn.
Argus estimates corn harvested areas for 2025-26 at 4.5mn ha, up by 10pc on last year.
