Retail gasoline prices and ultra-low sulphur diesel (ULSD) prices nationwide resumed gains over the week but could not offset the previous week's losses, according to US Energy Information Administration (EIA) data released today.

US retail gasoline prices rose by 0.5¢/USG to an average $3.173/USG for the week ended 22 September, rebounding from the prior week's three-week low of $3.168/USG. Gasoline prices in the US midcontinent fell the most compared to the rest of the regions; however, price declines in the Gulf coast nearly outweighed overall losses.

Similarly, US retail ULSD prices added 1¢/USG to total $3.739/USG, with prices up across all regions. The national gain mostly saw support from the Rocky Mountain region, where prices increased by 2.5¢/USG to $3.747/USG.

Compared to the same week last year, US retail gasoline prices have fallen by 1.2¢/USG, while ULSD values have surpassed year-ago levels by 21¢/USG.
