Ukraine's winter crop sowing campaign has reached completion in most regions, as of 24 November, with the total planted area at 98.5pc of the previous forecast of 5.43mn hectares (ha), according to data from the economy ministry.
Farmers reported planting an additional 33,100ha of winter wheat in the week ending 24 November, bringing the overall planted areas for the 2026-27 season (July-June) to 4.69mn ha, or 98.4pc of the total projected 4.77mn ha. Current planted areas exceed last year's 4.38mn ha reported by 25 November 2024 by 309,000ha (see chart).
At the same time, final winter wheat planted areas for last year ultimately amounted to 5mn ha, according to Ukraine's state statistics service.
Ukraine's winter barley planted areas expanded by 4,000ha in the week to 24 November, bringing the total for 2026-27 to 586,100ha — or 99pc of the projected 592,300ha. This year's winter barley area is expected to align with last year's figures of 592,200ha, as published by Ukraine's state statistics service.
Farmers had also planted 1.08mn ha of winter rapeseed by 24 November — 96.5pc of the total projected 1.12mn ha, and slightly behind the 1.18mn ha planted last year, according to Ukraine's state statistics service.
