A fire broke out at a fuel tank terminal in Mussafah in southwest Abu Dhabi today after the facility was struck by a drone, authorities said.
The blaze at the terminal, operated by state-owned Adnoc, was quickly brought under control, and officials confirmed that operations at the terminal were not affected and no injuries were reported.
The terminal is about 22km from central Abu Dhabi and distributes fuel by truck across the UAE, including to Abu Dhabi International Airport via its 1,600km pipeline network.
This incident follows a series of drone-related attacks in the region after the US and Israel launched attacks against Iran at the weekend and Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes against a range of targets across the Middle East.
These attacks have prompted Saudi Aramco's shutdown of its 550,000 b/d Ras Tanura refinery and QatarEnergy's suspension of LNG production at Ras Laffan and Mesaieed Industrial City.
The terminal has previously experienced a serious incident in 2022, when a fire and subsequent explosion left three employees dead and six others injured
