Johannesburg, 5 June (Argus) – The 200,000 boe/d capacity Egina field offshore Nigeria is scheduled to come on stream in 2017, field partner Nigerian firm South Atlantic Petroleum (Sapetro) said.
Egina will be operated by Total, which has previously estimated the cost of the deepwater field's development at over $15bn.
Production from Egina will be from a 2mn bl capacity floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit, Sapreto said.
Development contracts for the field are expected to be awarded by the end of this year.
Egina is one of the largest offshore field developments in west Africa.
Other upstream field developments in Nigeria that are scheduled to come on stream after 2016 include Bonga North, Bonga Southwest and Bosi. Final investment decisions on these fields are waiting for the passage of the long delayed petroleum industry bill.
Nigerian produces 2mn b/d of crude.
