Corrects company name in final paragraph to APC

Potassium nitrate producer Kemapco, a subsidiary of Jordan's APC, has completed its $18mn capacity expansion project at Aqaba.

The plant's capacity has risen to 175,000 t/yr from 135,000 t/yr. The company produced 130,000t of NOP last year.

APC said its 30pc year-on-year increase in January-June profits to 52.7mn Jordanian dinars ($74.3mn) was the result of record MOP production of 2.21mn t, similar sales volumes and higher potash prices. The company said Kemapco and another subsidiary, Jordanian bromine firm JBC, made a positive contribution to profits.

APC is pressing ahead with plans to boost potash production capacity by 180,000 t/yr, and completed a 250,000 t/yr increase in granular production capacity in the third quarter of last year.
