Power loss cuts south Georgia fuel distribution
Power outages disrupted southern Georgia fuel distribution today in the wake of Hurricane Michael.
Commercial power cuts halted transportation fuel deliveries to terminals in Americus, Albany and Bainbridge, Georgia, pipeline operator Colonial Pipeline said today.
Fuel deliveries continued to Macon on the 150,000 b/d Line 17 pipeline connecting Atlanta to Bainbridge. The pipeline operator was assessing storm damage and working to estimate a restart time.
The rest of the 5,500-mile pipeline system connecting US Gulf coast refiners to southeastern US and New York Harbor market terminals continued to operate. Colonial was monitoring flood conditions in South Carolina and North Carolina as the storm churned northeast.
Michael was moving northeast across South Carolina as a tropical storm late this morning after making landfall in the Florida panhandle yesterday as a category 4 hurricane. Powerful, lashing winds ripped down trees and power lines as they moved across southern Georgia.
