Mexico's Pemex imported 28,800 b/d of LPG in April, down sharply from 63,700 b/d in March and down 48pc from year-ago levels, as the country's overall consumption of transportation fuels sank between March and April.

Pemex's LPG production from gas processing fell from 101,000 b/d to 97,000 b/d between March and April. Ethane production fell from 42,000 b/d to 39,000 b/d during the same period.

Mexico is a primary outlet for US LPG exports as the fuel is widely used for residential purposes.

Pemex's posted LPG prices to distributors in Mexico rose by more than 11¢/USG or more at several locations the week of 25-31 May, following earlier gains in propane and butane pricing at Mont Belvieu, Texas.
