Brazil expands power matrix by 200MW in April

Brazil expanded its power generation capacity by 200MW during April, led by gains in renewables.

Thermal power plants were responsible for 13.44MW of the expansion, while wind and solar generation added 58.8MW and 127.69MW, respectively. Brazil's total installed generating capacity rose to 182,974.2MW.

This year through the end of April, Brazil had installed 1,551MW, or 20pc or of the 7,625.1MW scheduled for the year.
