US Steel increases flat-rolled prices by $40/st

Integrated steelmaker US Steel today announced a $40/st price increase for flat-rolled steel products, following similar moves by competitors ArcelorMittal and Nucor yesterday.

The announcement is the third price increase by the Pittsburgh-based steelmaker in less than a month.

The price increase comes the day after integrated steelmaker ArcelorMittal increased pricing to $630/st and electric arc-furnace steelmaker Nucor increased prices by $40/st.

US HRC prices hit a 2019 low of $521.75/st at the end of June. The most recent Argus weekly domestic US HRC assessment was $559.25/st on 16 July.
