AutoForecast increases NorthAm auto cuts

North American automakers are expected to lose the production of more vehicles in 2022 as time runs out to make up for lost production earlier in the year.

Production cut estimates for 2022 increased by 31,000 vehicles over the last week to 724,000, according to estimates from AutoForecast Solutions released yesterday. Another 450,000 vehicles are at-risk of not being produced, the forecaster said.

Automakers are running out of time to make up 2022 production that has been lost to semiconductor shortages.

The region's automotive industry has been beset by persistent shortages since January 2021, losing production of 3.01mn vehicles since then.
