Steelmaker AM/NS Calvert raises prices by $50/st

ArcelorMittal's joint venture mill in Calvert, Alabama, has raised its flat rolled prices by $50/short ton (st), following price hikes by two other producers this week.

The rerolling mill — which is run with Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel — announced a flat steel price increase today to its customers and said that its February order books are closed. It has begun to take orders for March.

The company did not release a minimum price point, unlike Cleveland-Cliffs and Nucor, which are both targeting a minimum price of $800/st, according to their own releases and market sources, respectively.

The Argus US Midwest HRC ex-works assessment rose by $22.50/st to $750/st Tuesday.
