Nucor ups sheet prices by $150/st, HRC to $1,150/st

US electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaker Nucor has raised its flat steel prices by $150/st, setting a minimum hot-rolled coil (HRC) price of $1,150/st.

Nucor said today that heavy gauge HRC products above 3/4 inch thickness are on an inquire basis.

The move comes days after integrated competitor Cleveland-Cliffs raised prices by $100/st, setting an HRC price minimum of $1,100/st.

US Steel was said to have raised its HRC price minimums up to $1,100/st, according to multiple sources. EAF steelmaker Steel Dynamics (SDI) was said to be receiving $1,100/st as well.

NLMK USA also raised its spot prices this week, targeting $1,200/st for HRC and a range of $1,300-1,400/st for cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot dipped galvanized (HDG) coil products.

The Argus US HRC Midwest and south ex-works assessments both rose to $1,000/st on 28 February, having increased by 59pc since late-November.
