Steelmaker ArcelorMittal has appointed former Eramet executive Kleber Silva as the chief executive of its mining business.
Silva's tenure is set to begin on 8 April after rejoining ArcelorMittal. Silva left the company in 2017 to join French mining firm Eramet as deputy chief executive and chief operating officer of mining and metals.
ArcelorMittal produced 26mn metric tonnes (t) of iron ore in 2023 in its Canada and Liberia seaborne iron ore mines, down by 9pc compared with 2022. The company shipped 26.4mn t in 2023, compared to 28mn t shipped in 2022. Total sales for 2023 mining sector reached $3.07bn in 2023, down by 9.4pc compared with 2022.
