Nucor buys commercial door manufacturer

US steelmaker Nucor has acquired commercial door maker Rytec in a continuation of its strategy to obtain assets outside of its steelmaking business.

The $565mn purchase announced today by Nucor follows the Charlotte-based electric arc furnace steelmaker's acquisition of data center infrastructure manufacturer Southwest Data Products in April.

Rytec, with two facilities in Wisconsin, makes overhead commercial doors for warehouses, automotive dealerships, parking garages and other sectors.
