UK aluminium alloy and scrap prices remained flat over the past week with no spot activity reported as markets fell quiet in the traditionally slow summer period.
The Argus assessment for LM24 alloy delivered to UK consumers remained at £2,100-2,150/t today, while LM25 alloy stayed at £2,550-2,600/t and LM6 alloy was stable at £2,600-2,650/t.
Prices have remained flat despite a rise in European alloy prices over the past two weeks, as a lack of fresh business has prevented the establishment of higher prices.
Scrap prices were also flat today. The Argus weekly assessment for commercial turnings scrap prices stayed at £1,050-1,150/t delivered to UK buyers today, while cast scrap prices remained at £1,400-1,450/t. Old rolled scrap prices were stable at £1,250-1,300/t, and aluminium wheels scrap was steady at £1,800-1,850/t.
Low availability is still maintaining support for scrap prices, but lower demand from export markets in recent weeks has released some of that pressure and prices have flattened.
