Aldebaran raises Cu estimates for Argentina project

Mineral exploration company Aldebaran Resources has doubled its mineral resources estimate in Argentina after it completed a mineral resource update.

The company now projects a measured and indicated 2.4bn metric tonnes (t) resource of 0.42pc copper, gold, silver and molybdenum, up by 100pc compared with the mineral resource estimate made in 2021. Copper accounts for 22bn lbs of that total.

The company holds the Altar copper-gold project in the Argentinian San Juan province, and it started the drilling process in late November.

The company now estimates 1.22bn t in inferred resource grading 0.37pc copper, up by 542pc from 2021. The updates also include gold, silver and molybdenum.

The measured and indicated classification indicates "a very high confidence level in the resource estimate," according to the company.

Argentina has recently garnered attention from investors and mining companies for its untapped copper potential.
