UK aluminium scrap prices saw mixed movement over the past week based on each grade's availability, though trade activity was broadly subdued and alloy prices were flat on a lack of new business.
Argus' weekly assessment for cast scrap prices dipped to £1,350-1,400/t delivered to customers today, from £1,370-1,420/t previously. Commercial turnings scrap fell to £1,180-1,230/t from £1,200-1,250/t. Aluminium wheels scrap prices increased on a lack of availability, to £1,750-1,800/t from £1,730-1,780/t. Old rolled scrap prices remained flat at £1,300-1,350/t.
Alloy prices were flat as the traditionally slow summer period has started early in European alloy markets, with automotive markets in particular very quiet against uncertain global trading conditions.
Argus' assessment for LM25 grade alloy prices stayed at £2,450-2,500/t delivered to customers today, while LM6 grade alloy prices remained at £2,475-2,525/t and LM24 alloy prices were steady at £2,000-2,050/t.
London Metal Exchange prices increased slightly over the past week. The three-month aluminium contract settled at $2,596/t in today's official session, from $2,593/t a week earlier.
