Ganfeng to raise 2025 lithium output

Chinese integrated lithium producer Ganfeng Lithium is ramping up its mining projects this year in Mali and Argentina.

Ganfeng is ramping up Phase 1 output at its Goulamina lithium ore, or spodumene, mine in Mali and advancing the Cauchari-Olaroz and Mariana brine projects in Argentina, aiming to boost global lithium supply in 2025, the company said Friday in its semiannual earnings report.

Ganfeng produced 130,253 metric tonnes (t) of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) in 2024 but did not disclose production figures in Friday's report.

The Goulamina phase one has a capacity of 506,000t/yr of spodumene concentrate and the second phase will expand capacity to 1mn t/yr.

It expects to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate from its 40,000t/yr LCE Cauchari-Olaroz project and is ramping up lithium chloride output at the 20,000t/yr Mariana site.

Ganfeng aims to reach at least 600,000t/yr of LCE supply by 2030, drawing from spodumene, brine, lepidolite, and recycling sources.

The company narrowed its first-half loss to 781mn yuan ($108mn), down from 1.1bn yuan a year earlier. It reported a 74mn yuan loss from lithium carbonate hedging.
