Brazil imposed definitive antidumping surcharges on steel sheet products from China for an extendable five-year period, the foreign trade secretariat Siscomex said.
The executive management committee of Brazil's foreign trade chamber ruled on 28 August it would impose a definitive antidumping charge on four types of steel sheets from China.
The duties range from $284.34-499.35/metric tonne as of 28 August. Provisional charges were previously applied in October 2024, seven months after the investigation began following a petition filed by Brazilian steelmaker CSN. The company currently stands as the sole domestic producer of similar steel sheets.
Brazil has several other antidumping probes in progress, but no provisional duties have been imposed in those other cases. Cold-rolled coils and coated steel products from China are also under probe. A ruling on the coated steel case has been deferred to January 2026.
