André Paula Santos
Head of EU Policy, Bioenergy, Nufarm

André is an experienced Brussels lobbyist who has worked in European affairs for a decade. Having represented the EBB since 2016, he works on EU climate and energy, trade and sustainability policies. Before this, André worked for several years as a consultant and public affairs adviser for EU associations, focusing on the challenges facing the energy sector. He is a qualified lawyer who holds a law degree and a master’s degree in administrative law and procurement. Besides his native Portuguese, André speaks fluent English and Spanish, as well as some French.

Carlos Suarez is mining engineer from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. He started his career in Repsol in 1998 and during these more than 25 years in the company has worked in different countries (Spain, Perú, México…), business (Gas, Refining, supply & logistics, mobility…) and positions.
Since 2023 is the Repsol B2B Mobility Director, and in 2024 the aviation business has been incorporated into his management, trying to align with a global vision the Repsol commitment: help to decarbonize the transport sector activity.

Eirik Pitkethly
VP of Regulatory Affairs Bioenergy, BP

Eirik has been Vice President, of regulatory affairs, and bioenergy at BP since 2023. His role oversees the development of the company’s approach to bioenergy regulation and advocacy.
Prior roles at BP include developing country strategies and leading BP’s approach to transport energy policy. Before joining BP Eirik was a senior civil servant with the
UK government, dealing with aviation and climate change policy and developing the programme of analysis undertaken by the UK’s Airports Commission.
As a diplomat at the UK’s Representation to the EU in Brussels, he represented the UK in the various European institutions, negotiating legislation such as Aviation
Emissions Trading and other climate-related dossiers. Many careers ago he was once a journalist.

Grazvydas Bajoras
Director, iFuel

Grazvydas is a senior business development and sales professional with high level negotiations and financial risk management experience at global Renewable, Energy and Aviation companies. He has established from zero and was elected Chairman and CEO of Management Boards of oil products supply and trading organization for the Oil Refinery group of companies in USA and Europe with revenues of USD 10 billion per annum. The implementation of successful strategy of oil product sales and supply has resulted in total value added of USD 150 million annually. Also, he was part of the founding management team of FL Technics, the Global Aviation Maintenance Repair Organization established on the foundations of National airline flag carrier. The successful implementation of commercial strategy focused on Third party Aviation leasing and engineering services for the Western Europe clients resulted in value added of USD 90 million annually.
After more than 25 years of Global commercial and venture building experience for major Aviation and Energy companies, Grazvydas has what it takes to contribute towards teams in achieving challenging goals. Besides his strong sales and business development background, Grazvydas is
fluent in English, Lithuanian, Russian and conversant in Polish and German.
He is passionate with helping Sustainable Aviation projects scale to their fullest potential and creating innovative business teams and models. When he is not working, he enjoys jogging and playing tennis with friends.

Gregoire Le Comte
Aviation Policy Officer, European Commission

As Aviation Policy Officer at the European Commission, Gregoire J. Le Comte's work focuses on the implementation of the "ReFuelEU Aviation" mandate for sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). He is also involved in preparing the Sustainable Transport Investment Plan (STIP), scheduled for adoption in the third quarter of 2025. With a decade of experience in aviation policy, Gregoire was instrumental in preparing and negotiating the EU's SAF mandate. He also contributed his expertise to the ICAO's work on a SAF regulatory framework under CORSIA and supported the development of the ACT-SAF program during his time at the ICAO Office of Environment from 2022 to 2025.

Jim Davies
Program Director - Sustainable Flight, International Airlines Group

Jim graduated with a First in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Southampton University, UK, and subsequently joined British Airways on their Engineering Graduate scheme. Starting off his career as a flight test engineer, Jim then moved on to hold a number of senior technical positions within Engineering and Flight Operations, mainly related to the safe and fuel-efficient performance of BA’s aircraft.

Jim then switched to the fuel supply side of the business with responsibilities for fuel operations, procurement, supply risk, bulk supply chain development, strategy and enabling the introduction of more sustainable aviation fuels before becoming BA’s Head of Fuel in 2012.

In 2014, following the formation of IAG, Jim became Head of Fuel at IAG and led the transformation of its supply chain business in the UK, Spain and Ireland. More recently, Jim moved to a new role of IAG Programme Director – Sustainable Flight to lead and give greater focus to the realisation of sustainable aviation fuels to underpin the delivery of the Group’s ambition to achieve Net Zero by 2050 – the first airline group in the world to give such a commitment. Jim is also IAG’s shareholder Director of Lanzajet Inc and Nova Pangaea Plc.

Monika Rybakowska

Monika has been working in aviation for 8 years, with her most recent role in the Single European Sky Unit of the European Commission’s DG MOVE, where she is dealing with the performance and charging scheme of air navigation service providers. Her aviation career began at Ryanair, where she played a key role in establishing the Brussels public affairs office, working on critical issues such as sustainability, passenger rights, and the impact of Brexit on traffic rights between the UK and the EU. During the Brexit negotiations, she was instrumental in securing an Air Operator Certificate and setting up Ryanair UK.

Prior to that, Monika also worked at DG COMP, a Warsaw law firm, and the Polish Civil Aviation Authority.

Monika holds an LL.M. in European Law from the College of Europe, a Master’s in International and European Business Law from Université Paris-Dauphine, and a Master’s in Law from the University of Wrocław. In 2023, she completed a course in Sustainable Business and Net Zero at the University of Oxford. In addition to her native Polish, she is fluent in English and French, with a good command of Spanish and Portuguese. Currently, she is also learning Dutch, having lived in Belgium for 9 years.

Anabela Antunes
COO, PRIO Bio

Anabela began his journey in R&D in the area of Pulp and Paper, with a desire to pursue an academic career, having completed a Master's Degree in Chemistry in 1999. From 2000-2006 worked as Quality Manager in different industries related to packing sector. In 2007 she embraced the challenge of being part of the PRIO biodiesel plant construction team, in the Port of Aveiro, Portugal. The last 16 years have been dedicated to PRIO and the biofuels industry, working in different areas: production, quality/research and management. She led the transition process from the unit, designed to process vegetal virgin oils, to a production unit based on wastes and residues. During this professional path, she completed his training with several specializations: Black Belt Certification, Sustainable Management and the AMEG program – Advanced Energy Management. She is currently COO at PRIO Bio, with the responsibility for the Biodiesel Production Unit, Raw Material Supply and the QSA area of the entire PRIO Group. Represents the company in several national and international forums related to the field of biofuels. She is also on the board of EWABA, European Waste-Based & Advanced Biofuels Association. Sustainable development represents an area of daily work, with a constant search for new approaches, maintaining the company's competitiveness and contributing to a low-carbon economy. She likes to connect people from different areas to get the best performance from the team, technology and available resources. To calm the mind, she practices sports and counts on family and friends to have fun and relax.

Akman Ozel

Akman Özel is the lead analyst for biofuel and ticket markets within STX Research and Trade Analytics team. He is an expert on European ticket markets such as THG, HBE and RTFC, and is responsible for establishing an analytics-driven market view on tickets and biofuels based on regulatory developments, supply and demand dynamics and trade activity. As a cross-commodity analyst, Akman provides multiple internal stakeholders with market insights including biofuel, feedstock, ticket and renewable gas trading desks. Braun is a popular speaker at industry conferences in Germany, Europe and North America. Braun previously led the Business Development and Carbon Removal team at Landwärme, where she implemented innovative green gas solutions. Before that, she worked at PGNiG Supply and Trading, starting in business development before becoming a natural gas trader. In these roles, she gained insights into the market. Braun started working at German transmission system operator 50hertz during her studies. Braun holds a master's degree in Industrial and Network Economics from the Technical University in Berlin.

Christos Chryssakis

Christos Chryssakis is Head of New Energy at Wallenius Wilhelmsen since 2023. Prior to this, he worked for 12 years for DNV in R&D and commercial roles related to decarbonization of shipping and marine fuels. Before joining DNV he worked as a researcher at the National Technical University of Athens, and at the Institut Francais du Petrole (IFP), in Paris, France. He has more than 10 years of R&D experience in internal combustion engines for marine, automotive and off-road applications, with particular focus on emissions reduction. He has a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and a MSc and PhD degree from the University of Michigan.

Daniel Barcarolo

Daniel Barcarolo is a Naval Architect who graduated from Rio de Janeiro Federal University in Brazil with a Ph.D. from Ecole Centrale de Nantes in France. Over the past 15 years, he has worked with various classification societies, including Bureau Veritas, Lloyd’s Register, and the American Bureau of Shipping. In these roles, he has collaborated extensively with stakeholders in the maritime industry to implement regulations formulated by IMO and other policymakers. Currently, he is the Head of Regulatory Affairs at the Mærsk McKinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, where he leads a team focused on developing frameworks to assist the industry and policymakers in facilitating the Shipping Industry Transition. For the past 5 years he has been deeply involved in the regulatory process at IMO and EU contribution to the development of regulations aiming at decarbonising the shipping industry.

Dáša Mamrillová

Daša is the Government Affairs Director of the European Waste-based & Advanced Biofuels Association – EWABA since March 2022. She has long years experience working in the EU affairs in the field of renewable energy and low carbon fuels after leading the Brussels office of the biggest Central and Eastern European biofuel holding Envien Group for over 5 years. Daša has been following the EU energy and climate agenda concentrated recently in the Fit for 55 package with special focus on transport sector from the very beginning and analysing the impact of individual legislative proposals on the future of European transport sector. At EWABA, we believe that renewable and low carbon fuels are essential and will work alongside electrification not only on the energy transition but for the long-term decarbonising targets of the European Union’s transport.

Jimmy Matheussen

Jimmy Matheussen has been with Bureau Veritas since 2010, beginning his career as a Chemist and steadily progressing through roles as Senior Chemist, R&D and Chromatography Supervisor, and ultimately Centre of Expertise Lead in Belgium. In 2025, he relocated to Singapore to assume the role of Technical Manager, Feedstock and Renewable Fuels – APAC Region, where he oversees technical development and laboratory operations across the region.
With a strong foundation in petrochemical analysis early in his career, Jimmy has spent the last eight years focused on renewable energy and circular economy initiatives. This has included examples such as setting up laboratories in Europe and Singapore for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) analysis, advancing plastics recycling processes and analyses, and supporting the biobased blending of marine fuels.

Jørgen has a technical background as sailing marine engineer, and a economical degree.



Since the start of his career Jørgen has been involved in the maritime industry. Hi joined Everllence, then known as MAN in 2002, and in 2013 he change to the promotion department supporting clients in their New Building programs.



Jørgen supports customer geographically located in South East Asia and Turkey. One of his technical interest areas is Bio fule for the maritime industry and supporting custoerms in how to handle Biofuels onboard.

Michael Green
Senior Quality Manager, World Fuel Services

Michael joined World Fuel Services, as Senior Quality Manager for Marine Technical, in December 2019 following 15 years in the fuel testing industry with Lintec Testing Services / Intertek ShipCare. As a member of the marine technical team his focus is delivering added value to WFS customers. The technical team also offers support for the WFS physical delivery locations, support in relation to continued progression of legislative reform, sustainability initiatives, development of new fuels and technologies, and quality / quantity disputes.
Michael is heavily involved with a range of established industry technical committees and working groups as well as industry associations within the marine fuel sector. He currently represents the UK on the BSI PTI /002 working group as well as number of ISO working groups including the ISO 8217 working group ISO/TC 28/SC 4/WG 6, and the ISO Alternative Marine Fuels group ISO /TC28/SC4/WG18. He is also an active member in a number of different working groups and sub-committees at The Energy Institute as well as having previously spent 9 years as a member of the CIMAC Working Group 7 for Fuels.
Michael is a past Chairman of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA), a position he held for two years. He joined the IBIA Board of Directors in April 2014 taking an active role in the development and progression of the association. During his time at IBIA he acted as the chairman of the working group for Training and Education and was elected to the position of Vice Chair of the IBIA board of directors in April 2016. Michael took on the role as the Chairman of the IBIA Board of Directors in April 2018 working closely with the Director of IBIA to ensure progression and recognition of the contribution the association provides to its members and the bunkering industry as a whole.

Rachel Hoyland

Rachel is a lawyer and maritime decarbonisation expert, guiding clients through fast-paced regulatory change and the commercial challenges and opportunities of the energy transition.

An early mover in the legal sector, Rachel has been at the forefront of maritime decarbonisation developments and is a leading expert in the field. Her work includes navigating complex and rapidly changing emissions regulations (EU ETS, UK ETS, FuelEU, CII and IMO NZF) designing contractual architecture for commercial projects (including insetting, pooling and retrofitting schemes) and advising on sustainable fuel regulations.

Rachel was formerly in-house with one of the largest shipowners in the world and, with more than a decade of experience handling maritime disputes, has a keen eye for operational, legal and litigation risks. Her ability to anticipate and guard against those make her an invaluable asset to her clients, who rely on her to provide pragmatic advice balancing commercial opportunity with legal risk.

A member of working groups and drafting committees of the International Maritime Organisation, UK Department for Transport, UK Chamber of Shipping and BIMCO, Rachel is proud to contribute to the development of the maritime decarbonisation landscape as well as support her clients’ response to it.

Russell Fernandes

Russell Fernandes leads emissions management for ST Shipping and Transport Pte Ltd, the shipping arm of Glencore Oil. With over 30 years of experience in commercial management, risk, and shipping operations, he now focuses on integrating emissions data, shaping strategy, and supporting compliance under evolving climate regulations. Russell plays an active role in Glencore Oil’s ESG group and has helped implement systems for emissions trading and operational reporting. His career includes senior roles at Unipec, Teekay, and Solai Holdings, where he worked across commercial strategy, freight risk, and marine logistics. He holds an MSc in Energy, Trade & Finance from Cass Business School and is a qualified Master Mariner.

Alex Younevitch

Alex Younevitch is Vice-President, Freight at Argus Media, leading strategy and business development across the company’s global freight portfolio. Since joining Argus in February 2020, Alex has driven growth and innovation in tanker, dry bulk, gas, and specialised freight services. Previously, he headed EMEA shipping at S&P Global Commodity Insights, where he oversaw three flagship publications and was instrumental in rapidly expanding Platts’ freight offering across tankers, dry bulk, and container markets. Charles is Vice President of Argus Media’s consulting practice in London. Charles specialises in providing market due diligence analysis in the bio and fossil fuel industries, helping clients to plan investment, acquisition and market entry strategy. Over the past five years, Argus has advised oil majors, national oil companies, fuels wholesalers, feedstock providers and national governments, on the development and outlook for the biofuels industry globally. Beginning in the energy strategy practice at Accenture, Charles spent seven years managing client engagements in biofuels and bio-based specialty chemicals. Prior to joining Argus Media, he worked for the UK government as Head of Foresight, on long-term policy making in the energy and transportation sectors.

Evelina Lungu
Senior Reporter, Oil Products, Argus Media

Evelina joined Argus in 2023 and produces daily assessments for benchmark hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) prices and other hydrotreated products. She previously covered the European ethanol market as well as renewable fuel tickets. As part of her role, Evelina focuses on biofuels analysis, particularly regulatory developments and supply-demand dynamics. Before joining Argus, she worked in the legal field and holds a degree in Law from the University of Surrey.

Aleksy Fichot

ePURE is a Brussels-based association representing the unified voice of the European renewable ethanol industry, produced from agricultural raw materials as well as from waste and residues. Aleksy has worked in EU public and institutional affairs in Brussels since 2019, with a particular focus on agriculture and energy. Before joining ePURE, he was Manager for European Parliament relations at a French farmers’ union and later a Senior Consultant at a Brussels-based public affairs consultancy. He holds a master’s degree in European Affairs from the Institut d’études politiques de Lille.

Amparo Arellano is Senior Expert Sustainability Certification at Sustainable Resources Verification Scheme (SURE), a non for profit certification scheme promoting the use of sustainable biomass for the production of bioenergy recognized by the European Commission for the certification of compliance with the EU Renewable Energy Directive 2018/2001 (RED II). Over the past 10 years Amparo has been involved in various roles focusing on stakeholder engagement, mainly with regards to the development of sustainable forest management (FSC) certification, as well as in the implementation of projects about cooperation for international development.

Angel Alvarez Alberdi

Angel Alvarez Alberdi has been Secretary General of European waste-to-advanced biofuels association EWABA since its creation in 2013. EWABA is a Brussels-based trade association defending the interests of waste-based biofuel producers using feedstocks such as used cooking oil (UCO), tallow and other wastes to produce sustainable biofuels with greenhouse gas savings ranking among the highest available on the market. Angel has been working in EU government and institutional affairs in Brussels for the past decade, with a particular focus on energy matters and on EU legislative procedures. He started his career in Brussels with a stint at the European Commission’s Secretariat General, then worked for an international public affairs consultancy, the trade association European Biodiesel Board and a global law firm. A lawyer by training, Angel has an MA in European interdisciplinary studies with a major in EU governance from the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.

His work has encompassed projects ranging from defining a long-term growth vision to commercial due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, for multinational client companies across the petroleum and biofuels value chain. He holds a master’s degree in aerospace engineering, graduated from ISAE-SUPAERO, the French Ecole Polytechnique and the University of Berkeley in California.

Dan Lieberman

Dan Lieberman joined the Nufarm Carinata global team May 2023 in the role of Sustainability Strategy & Engagement Lead. Dan brings over two decades’ experience at the climate-energy nexus across the public and private sectors in both consulting and industry. At Nufarm, Dan is advancing the Carinata program’s sustainability strategy and engagement with external stakeholders globally. His work is focused on unlocking opportunities to remove atmospheric carbon, regenerate soil, and grow non-food sustainable energy sources that can replace fossil oils.

Prior to joining Nuseed, Dan spent 16 years at Chevron, where he held various roles that spanned corporate strategy and sustainability, communications, and government relations, serving most recently as Senior Advisor for Climate Policy for global legislative and regulatory affairs.

Dan has previously held roles in corporate strategy and as a managing consultant for the consulting firm ICF International. There he helped public and private sector clients develop and navigate nascent carbon markets and approaches to greenhouse gas management and accounting. In the standards space in particular, Dan led or contributed to numerous publications on the estimation, modeling and forecasting of GHG emissions and markets and contributed to the development of methodologies and tools under the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism, the WBCSD/WRI GHG Protocol, IPCC Good Practice Guidelines, US EPA Inventory of GHG Emissions and Sinks, and others.

In addition to his extensive sector experience Dan also earned an M.B.A. in Strategic Environmental Management from the George Washington University School of Business, and a B.S. in Economics and Environmental Science from Brandeis University.

Previously Didier held several commercial positions at Vopak and VTTI in both the Netherlands and the Middle East.

Luciano Salvatierra

Luciano Salvatierra has served as Senior Vice President of Renewable Fuels for Bunge since January 2021. He leads Bunge’s global strategy on renewable fuels feedstocks and oversees the company’s relationships with energy companies. He also serves on the board of Bunge Chevron Ag Renewables, Bunge’s joint venture with Chevron that is building assets, supply chains and products to support the production of renewable energy.

Mr. Salvatierra joined Bunge in 2004 as a strategic and business planning manager, risk manager for Bunge's Brazilian fertilizer business. Over the past 20 years, he has served in various leadership and board roles including, Chief Financial Officer for Bunge North America and Senior Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis.
He graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro with a degree in chemical engineering and holds a master’s degree in corporate finance from the Brazilian Institute of Capital Markets.
Mr. Salvatierra has also served on the board of the St. Louis Area Foodbank from 2019 to 2022.

Vincent Desfossez is the founder of Oléalogie 3.0, a consultancy focused on biofuels market analysis and trading strategy. He currently serves as International Market Advisor to FEDIOL, offering expert guidance on global market trends and trading practices.

His career in biofuels took off at ExxonMobil in 2018, where he initiated biofuels trading, launched a bio-blend hub in Rotterdam in 2022, and optimized compliance across European jurisdictions—strategically leveraging the oil major’s infrastructure as a trading asset.

Vincent’s expertise is rooted in his earlier experience as a biodiesel producer. As Head of the Biodiesel Business Unit at Saipol, he was a key figure in the evolution of Europe’s first-generation biofuel industry from the 1990s onward. His contributions span advocacy for fair international trade through EBB, the implementation of sustainability frameworks under RED I, II, and soon III, and the development of bio-derivatives and risk management tools.

Brussels-based EBB is the association for companies producing biodiesel (HVO and FAME) in the EU and represents producers using all feedstocks — food/feed crops, waste, residues and other biogenic materials. Here, she guides Stena’s shipping business units through the rapidly evolving energy and environmental regulatory landscape of both the EU and IMO. Her work focuses predominantly on the maritime energy transition, ensuring compliance with tightening regulations.
