Andrew Thomas is the Director of Sustainability at Vista. During Andrew’s tenure, he has led multi-year GHG and TCFD reporting for transparent auditing, introduced a comprehensive Carbon Offset initiative and most recently introduced Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) as a business standard, culminating in the purchase of 4 million US gallons of SAF for 2023-2024.
Gill Alker, Book and Claim Manager at the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials is a seasoned environmental and engineering professional with a PhD in Environmental Engineering and over two decades in the field. She manages RSB’s Book and Claim System, which aims to expand the outreach of sustainable fuels and accelerate the decarbonisation of hard to abate sectors such as shipping and aviation.
Giulia Squadrin is a business development manager at Argus Media in London, contributing to strategy and business development for European biofuels, with a focus on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), ethanol and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Giulia previously produced daily assessments for hydrotreated biofuels as part of Argus Media’s editorial team, where she worked on the analysis of the European biofuels market, including regulatory changes and data management. Prior to joining Argus, Giulia worked with international organisations in Geneva for a year and completed a master’s degree in International Affairs at Middle Tennessee State University.
Ilyas is Head of Green Fuels Team at Hapag Lloyd with the responsibility to develop the supply of green fuels. Ilyas has Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering and brings 16 years of technical and commercial experience in green fuels and energy projects.
Tobias has 18 years of business development and leadership experience in the renewable energy, carbon markets and advanced technology platforms space. Having worked across large global companies as well as startups in climate impact and decarbonization, his key focus has been on supporting clients navigate and risk manage the energy transition and related carbon markets. As the world’s largest supplier of marine fuels, Bunker Holding is supporting the maritime energy transition by delivering alternative fuels and carbon market solutions to the shipping industry, where clients face increasingly complex challenges and opportunities in both the compliance (EU ETS) and voluntary markets, which Tobias oversees.
Jack Merriott leads Argus Media’s bespoke consulting projects practice in low-carbon fuels in Europe. He has delivered lender due diligence for some of the largest and most advanced green and blue ammonia projects in the world, as well as green fertilizer projects. He also leads the consulting practice in alternative marine fuels, advising shipowners, storage companies, prospective fuel producers and financial institutions.
Hussein is the Associate Editor for Alternative Marine Fuels at Argus Media covering bunker fuels across Europe and Africa and specialising in alternative marine fuel markets. He is responsible for the development of European marine biodiesel spot price assessments and contributes to price assessments, news and analysis.
Geoff brings with him a wealth of experience from over 20 years within Shell's trading organization, now leading the Global Trading Desk for Low Carbon Fuels. His team trades and supplies Low Carbon Fuels (such as fame, hvo, ethanol, bio-lng) as well as biogenic feedstocks. Prior to his current role, he has held several notable positions including the Global Desk Leader for Gasoline Trading, Global Desk Leader for Jet fuel Trading, and the Regional Team Leader for European Middle Distillates Trading, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of Trading and International Energy markets.
Andrea leads biofeedstocks and biofuels activities at Eni. He became the head of biofuels trading at Eni Trading and Shipping in 2019, with responsibility for redesigning and enlarging biofeedstocks and biofuels trading activities. In 2020 he took over the role of head of supply for Eni. Since 2021, he has been a member of the board of directors of Eni Trading and Shipping. With more than 17 years’ experience within the group, he has held roles in several countries, including as German and Austrian branch manager, head of gas and power sales in France, Italy and the Benelux, and lead originator for gas, power and emissions.
Dan Lieberman joined the Nufarm Carinata global team May 2023 in the role of Sustainability Strategy & Engagement Lead. Dan brings over two decades’ experience at the climate-energy nexus across the public and private sectors in both consulting and industry. At Nufarm, Dan is advancing the Carinata program’s sustainability strategy and engagement with external stakeholders globally. His work is focused on unlocking opportunities to remove atmospheric carbon, regenerate soil, and grow non-food sustainable energy sources that can replace fossil oils. Prior to joining Nuseed, Dan spent 16 years at Chevron, where he held various roles that spanned corporate strategy and sustainability, communications, and government relations, serving most recently as Senior Advisor for Climate Policy for global legislative and regulatory affairs. Dan has previously held roles in corporate strategy and as a managing consultant for the consulting firm ICF International. There he helped public and private sector clients develop and navigate nascent carbon markets and approaches to greenhouse gas management and accounting. In the standards space in particular, Dan led or contributed to numerous publications on the estimation, modeling and forecasting of GHG emissions and markets and contributed to the development of methodologies and tools under the Kyoto Protocol’s Clean Development Mechanism, the WBCSD/WRI GHG Protocol, IPCC Good Practice Guidelines, US EPA Inventory of GHG Emissions and Sinks, and others. In addition to his extensive sector experience Dan also earned an M.B.A. in Strategic Environmental Management from the George Washington University School of Business, and a B.S. in Economics and Environmental Science from Brandeis University. Dan and his family reside in Livermore, California.
Lawrence joined Argus Media’s European Natural Gas team in 2014 following an gas industry market analysis role in Berlin. Joining Argus, Lawrence specialised in German and Italian gas market and regulatory developments, working closely with Argus’ coal and electricity teams to develop cross-commodity analysis. Moving to the business development team in 2017, Lawrence now covers European natural gas, power and LNG taking in markets from Italy and the Netherlands to Ukraine and Turkey.
Alex works on Argus' short- and long-term market analysis and forecasts covering global biofuels and feedstock demand, supply, trade and prices, with a focus on European markets. He is the editor of the Argus Biofuels Analytics publication, covering a 10-year outlook for global biofuels markets.
