Anson starts lithium production at Utah project

Perth-based metals developer Anson Resources has produced the first lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) at its Paradox lithium project in the US state of Utah.

Data collected from the initial production exercise will be used to fine-tune the process for production and plant design at the project's pilot plant, the company said.

An alternative production process has been used to produce LCE, using technology that separates lithium from brine through an absorption method. The process used is different to the process outlined by the company in a presentation at the Shanghai Battery Metals Conference in April.

Anson is now seeking ways to fast-track the development of the Paradox project up to commercial production and is continuing to examine alternative technologies to achieve its objective, managing director Bruce Richardson said.
