Indian state-controlled petrochemical producer ONGC Petro Additions (Opal) has unexpectedly shut its 340,000 t/yr polypropylene (PP) unit this week because of a technical issue.
The shutdown of the unit in Dahej on India's west coast is expected to last for five days.
Opal had earlier in May shut down the same unit for five days for a minor accessory replacement.
The latest shutdown comes as PP demand in the Indian market is softening. Buyers are adopting a wait-and-see approach for now, while maintaining sufficient inventories.
