AK Steel signs labor deal at Butler Works

AK Steel has signed a labor agreement with the United Auto Workers (UAW) union covering 1,200 production and maintenance employees at its Butler Works in Pennsylvania.

The three-year agreement by the Ohio-based steelmaker will be in effect until 15 June, 2022. The previous contract was agreed upon in August 2016.

The electric arc-furnace-based (EAF) Butler Works mill, which is north of Pittsburgh, has a steel production capacity of 1.5mn st/yr and produces flat-rolled electrical and stainless steels as well as carbon and stainless semi-finished slabs.
