US brass mill exports, imports fall in July

US exports of brass mill products decreased in July, falling by 18pc from a year prior, while imports fell by 10pc.

Brass mill products exports fell to 17mn lbs in July from 20.7mn lbs in July 2018, according to the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council. Exports through the first seven months of the year were down by 16pc to 127.6mn lbs.

The top destination for US exports of brass mill products in July was Mexico at 7mn lbs, followed by Canada at 4.6mn lbs, China at 628,703 lbs, Saudi Arabia at 543,326 lbs and the United Arab Emirates at 360,013 lbs.

Brass mill products imports totaled 44.8mn lbs in July, compared to 49.7mn lbs a year earlier. Year-to-date imports fell by 0.5pc to 305mn lbs.

Imports from Germany led total volumes in July at 8.7mn lbs, followed by Vietnam at 6.9mn lbs, South Korea at 4.4mn lbs, Mexico at 4.3mn lbs and Canada at 2.8mn lbs.

Sheet, strip, plate and foil product imports totaled 14.2mn lbs, while exports were 6mn lbs.

Imports of all pipe and tube products totaled 17.5mn lbs, while exports totaled 4.1mn lbs.

Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 9.4mn lbs, while exports were 5.8mn lbs.

Copper alloy wire imports totaled 3.7mn lbs, while exports were 1.2mn lbs.
