Ohio-based steel service center Worthington Industries acquired a pickling and slitting facility from Heidtman Steel Products in Cleveland.

The 278,000ft2 facility can pickle and slit material up to 0.625in thick by 72in wide.

Worthington said the Cleveland facility will complement its existing cold-rolled steel processing facility in the city and its joint venture Samuel Steel Pickling Company in Cleveland and Twinsburg.

The Cleveland facility was built in 2004 and pickles and slits hot-rolled, carbon flat steel for the agriculture, automotive, heavy equipment and heavy truck markets. It is adjacent to ArcelorMittal's Cleveland integrated mill.
